Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for the opportunity to recommend Nicole Marcia to you. I have worked directly with Nicole for the past three years in my role as the Regional Director of the Complex Mental Health and Addiction Program at Vancouver Coastal Health.
Nicole is an excellent practitioner who has strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage both the clients and the staff with whom she works. She is an innovator and has a track record of developing unique programs. For example, she developed comprehensive yoga programs at the Burnaby Centre for Mental Health and Addiction and Riverview Hospital to serve populations who are extremely marginalized and challenged by multiple health barriers. The programs were very successful and were tailored to meet the needs of the population served.
Nicole is a life long learner, a very self –motivated individual and independent thinker who works collaboratively with teams. She is continuously updating her skills.
Nicole has a specialty in working with people with trauma in their lives. She has taken advanced training in this area and has successfully applied it to the work place. Nicole has demonstrated through her work her strengths as a compassionate, caring individual who has strong leadership and program development skills in her area of practice. It has been both a remarkable learning experience and privilege for me to have known and worked with Nicole. I strongly recommend her to your program and know that both client and staff will be very fortunate to have Nicole on the team. If you require further information contact me directly.
Sincerely,
Heather Hay RN, MA, MSC(A)
Regional Program Director Mental Health and Addiction

To Whom It May Concern,
As the current Executive Director for The Yoga Outreach Society, a registered charity, it is a pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Nicole Marcia. Ms. Marcia has been involved with Yoga Outreach since 2007 and has continued to be a committed and valuable member of its community to this day.
In 2007 Ms. Marcia began volunteering with Yoga Outreach as a yoga instructor with Friends for Life, and continued to volunteer in this capacity until 2009. In the past Ms. Marcia has also provided subbing relief for programming at Pacifica Recovery Centre. In 2010 Ms. Marcia joined the Teacher Training Committee as a volunteer to help with the design and implementation of a more comprehensive training program for volunteer yoga instructors. Last year Yoga Outreach was awarded a sizable grant to build an extensive Teacher Training Program. As a result, Ms. Marcia was hired for a part-time, one year contract to complete curriculum development, implementation, and facilitation of a Core 16 hour training course for yoga teachers working within specialized settings. In addition, she co-developed several 4 hour training modules on key subject areas. She continues to work for Yoga Outreach as a Training Facilitator and Advisor to the Teacher Training Program.
I would not hesitate to recommend Ms. Marcia to any prospective employer. In my dealings with her I have found her to be highly professional, while always maintaining a very caring and impassioned commitment to her work. Ms. Marcia brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. During her time as a volunteer, Ms. Marcia could be relied upon to be present, consistent, and to prioritize the needs of the clients. As a Curriculum Developer and Facilitator, she provided Yoga Outreach with a solid foundation of knowledge, training yoga teachers to work with specialized populations in a way that is both trauma informed and sensitive to the differing needs of many of the communities we serve. Her contribution to the organization as a whole has been invaluable and we continue to welcome her expertise and enthusiasm.
Should you require any further information please feel free to contact me at 778-227-8357 or via email at delanie@yogaoutreach.com at your convenience.
Sincerely,
Delanie Dyck

To Whom it may Concern,
Re: Job Reference for Nicole Marcia
In my capacity as Human Resources Representative, I have known Nicole since she was hired by the British Columbia Compassion Club Society in October 2003. Nicole was originally hired as a front-line staff member to serve and support our clients.
During her 5 year tenure as a part of our not-for-profit organization, Nicole served in many aspects of the functioning of the organization. These included the Conflict Resolution Committee where she facilitated resolutions within the membership and the staff. As part of the Communications Department, she acted as a liaison between our organization and the media, writing articles for public distribution and giving public talks. Nicole worked in the Membership and Orientations Department, doing initial intake interviews, assessing the needs of new clients and educating them about our mandate and services.
Our members come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds with a wide range of health concerns, including mental illness, chronic pain, chronic illness, and end of life issues. I have found Nicole to be an excellent staff member who has contributed to the BCCCS’s task of constantly evolving and improving to meet the needs of clients. Above all she is a team player, helpful, and always available to work with and support her colleagues. This is an important quality in an organization such as ours, which works on a non-hierarchical consensus-based model. Nicole also is very skilled at dealing with our clients in a warm and caring manner. She is able to connect with them at a deep level, whether through initial intake interviews or in dispensing medicine. She has advocated for clients faced with housing, healthcare, and legal issues. At the same time, she is someone with a healthy sense of boundaries, who can be firm and strong in the face of aggression or intimidation.
I can recommend Nicole to your organization without reservation, and in my opinion you would be very fortunate to have her on your staff.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you wish further information.
Sincerely,
Blain Butyniec
On behalf of the BCCCS

To Whom It May Concern:
In my capacity as Clinical Practice Lead, I have known Nicole since December 2008 when she began her work at the Burnaby Centre for Mental Health and Addictions. Nicole was hired to design and implement a Yoga Therapy program for our facility.
From the beginning of her employment here, I found that Nicole was committed to and passionate about her work with the clients. Our clients struggle with a variety of complex mental health and addiction issues, behavioural problems and medical conditions. Nicole put in a tremendous effort into the development and implementation of a program that met the unique needs of our clients and enriched their overall treatment and recovery. As we were a start up program, she often did this work unaided and under difficult conditions.
Nicole worked with caring and compassion on the complex issues of our clients providing creative solutions in an independent and effective manner. She developed strong therapeutic relationships with the clients, was helpful in the development of the treatment plans and provided quality yoga therapy for our centre.
Nicole did her work with a positive attitude, giving energy where it was needed to support clients and staff alike. She is very much a team player. As I mentioned, Nicole has a very positive way of relating to and connecting to clients – ways which furthered the overall healing process. In my opinion, she is an excellent yoga teacher therapist and is dedicated to her professional work.
Sincerely,
Steve Henne, MA, RCC

To whom it may concern:
It is my pleasure to provide this letter of reference for Nicole Marcia.
Nicole has been the yoga instructor for CTV for over 3 years and is currently teaching employees twice a week on the CTV premises.
In her classes she brings us calm and understanding to an environment which can at times be very stressful and demanding!! Her caring nature and pleasant disposition are what make her classes special and we all look forward to them. She provides us with much more than a yoga class.
Nicole is relaxed, motivating and inspiring. She has brought us peace and balance not only in our work lives, but on a personal level as well. Anyone who is fortunate enough to have her as an instructor will be truly blessed as she is a unique and special person who brings a personal touch to her classes. She is certainly a treasure in the world of yoga instructors!

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing in support of Nicole Marcia whom I have known for 2 years and who studied with me from April 2003-April 2004. Nicole took part in a 125 hour Meditation and Yoga Intensive that was offered by Lotusland from Sept, 2003-April 2004. The course was comprised of 80 hours instruction and study with an optional 45 hour practicum. The course was based in an Ashtanga foundation with an emphasis on meditation and intuitive instruction. Nicole has completed both sections and shown great strengths as an instructor.
Nicole offers many gifts to her students through her personality and teaching style. She offers adjustments mindfully and gently yet with confidence. Her humor comes out naturally in her teaching as does her unconditional acceptance of all levels of practice and ways of being. She places strong emphasis on breath and awareness, strengths indicative of her own practice. Comments from students about Nicole indicate that they feel very comfortable with her and appreciate her people skills and emanating compassion.
Observing Nicole’s growth as an individual and a teacher has been a gift and a privilege. I am pleased to now support her in pursuing a Master’s degree in Yoga therapy, a further indication of her commitment to her own practice and spiritual journey. This self-commitment to awareness and ego-dissolution has her stand out from the crowd in the yoga community. She offers her students and all those she will work with the gift of heart and unconditional love. You will be blessed to have her teachings as part of your organization.
Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Namaste,
Kim Roth

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
I have known Nicole Marcia for more than two years. Initially I hired her to work with the Imaginative Education Research Group (IERG), of which I am the director. She performed a variety of tasks for us, organizational and academic. The IERG is very much in the process of formation, and we hired Ms. Marcia at a point when we needed people with initiative who could take on jobs quickly and execute them with minimal fuss and maximum efficiency.
We were very fortunate in having hired Ms. Marcia at this crucial time. She worked with great efficiency, taking on often more than was asked of her, and invariably performing above expectations. She was also a delight to have in the office, as her informal and efficiency manner had a good influence on everyone else. I felt entirely happy entrusting her with the composition of documents and quickly learned that she could be entrusted to take a project and run with it. One of the more challenging tasks she took on involved travel to some of our satellite sites in Romania. As she was going to be in that region of the world, she volunteered to follow-up on some of the contacts we had been developing. She was most effective in developing those contacts, made a strong impression on all the people she dealt with in Romania, and wrote a very useful report on her return that served as a basis for what is becoming a most fruitful set of cooperative projects.
I have found Ms. Marcia intelligent, effective in a range of sometimes challenging tasks, and entirely trustworthy; and she works with calmness and competence. I can recommend her most highly.
Yours sincerely,
Kieran Egan
