I acknowledge with appreciation and respect that my work takes place on the traditional unceded territories of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh speaking peoples: Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam). Fine Balance Counselling & Yoga Therapy aspires to be trauma-informed in everything that I do. I recognize that erasing Native people by not acknowledging their history and their living present is itself trauma. I seek to align myself with the struggle against the systems of oppression that have dispossessed Indigenous people of their lands and denied their rights to self-determination. This on-going commitment extends to leveraging my unearned privilege to create equitable and inclusive experiences for all and to confronting and deconstructing the biases that exist in my practices and beyond.
